A heritage office reimagined for the future

The project

When The Crown Estate set out to refresh its offices at 16 New Burlington Place (16NBP), the vision was clear, create a premium workspace that respects heritage while embracing modern performance. Designed by Trehearne and delivered by Parkeray, the project needed acoustic solutions that were as discreet as they were effective and aligned with Regent Street’s values of heritage, quality, style, and success.

With the industry striving toward Net Zero Carbon, this project aimed to build on the building’s pioneering legacy. Originally desgined as a BREEAM Excellent headquarters in 2006, 16NBP secured London’s first green lease and introduced innovations such as rainwater harvesting, combined heat and powers systems, photovoltaic panels, and recessed windows for solar shading—achieving 40% less energy use than a typical office of its size. This ethos of environmental responsibility set the tone for the refurbishment.

The solution:

Aiming to elevate the acoustic and visual quality of premium workspaces within a heritage setting, Autex Acoustics® supplied a combination of Frontier™ and Cascade™ acoustic systems in Savoye—products chosen for their clean lines, lightweight installation, high sound absorption, and sustainability credentials, perfect for maintaining the refined aesthetic of this iconic London address. Cascade was placed in the reception area along with other break out spaces throughout the offices to create zones and visual and acoustically separate areas. Frontier was used on the ceiling about the office area and throughout walkways with high foot traffic to minimise reverberation and echo.

Beyond design, sustainability was a driving force. All products used in the project are manufactured from a minimum of 80% recycled PET and are carbon neutral, supporting the projects sustainability goals, and aligning with the industry’s push toward Net Zero Carbon.
